- A full team of fully qualified Highway Operatives with relevant tickets including CSCS/CPCS, SSSTS/SMSTS, Safety Critical Medical, EFAW+F, LANTRA across relevant tools and machinery, Highway Passports, IPAF, FMOC etc.
- Works are carried out using our John Deere 6155R tractor fitted with flail attachments for large-scale vegetation flailing, supported by trained and competent operatives undertaking sign clearance and strimming operations. Our Highly Skilled, Fully Certified Team
Our workforce consists of a highly skilled team of 12 operatives, all fully trained and certified to operate in safety-critical and regulated environments. Our accreditations and competencies include CSCS and CPCS, SSSTS and SMSTS, Safety Critical Medicals, EFAW+F, LANTRA qualifications across relevant tools and machinery, Highway Passports, IPAF, FMOC, and more. This breadth of certification allows us to integrate seamlessly into complex sites and work confidently under strict safety and compliance frameworks.
Modern Fleet and Plant Investment
All Bear Valley Timbers vehicles are Chapter 8 compliant, ensuring full compliance for works carried out on or near highways. We have also made significant investment in large and specialist plant. We operate a comprehensive fleet of modern plant and equipment to support a wide range of works, including a John Deere 6155R tractor, Doosan DXL140 digger, Bobcat digger and an Alpine tractor, giving us strong capability for both heavy-duty and specialist tasks.
Our chipping capacity includes both tow-behind and tracked chippers, whole tree chipping, allowing efficient operation across varied terrain and access conditions. In addition, we utilise MEWPs and excavators for safe access and groundworks, alongside a full range of vegetation management equipment such as mowers, strimmers, hedgecutters and sprayers, ensuring we can deliver efficient, high-quality results across all aspects of our operations.
CASE STUDY 1 : CLIENT – COMMERCIAL
Client requested work over 6 areas along the boundary of the A1 in Thetford. The spec included cutting of grassland using a flail or robo cut to a specified height of between 25-50mm. Additional areas were to be curated as bare earth through close mowing. All cuttings were to be collected and deposited off site at an agreed location. Specific equipment required – Compact Tractor with grass collector / Robo flail and strimmers. Team required to supply a SSSTS plus machine op and 2 strimmer operatives. All kit/vehicles and equipment to be highways compliant.
We want to be transparent with our costs for all contracts completed and if there is an opportunity to reduce expenditure we will take this into account. All work was completed within the specified time frame, we completed the works on time and underbudget reducing the cost to the client by approx. 32%.




CASE STUDY 2 : CLIENT – COMMERCIAL HIGHWAYS
During the most recent grass-cutting season, Bear Valley Timber deployed three fully resourced and dedicated teams operating across the highway network. This comprised two grass-cutting teams supported by a grounds operatives team working in conjunction with a John Deere tractor equipped with flail attachments, in addition to a specialist hazardous tree team utilising a MEWP to ensure works were undertaken safely and in accordance with best-practice standards. All works were delivered efficiently and within the agreed programme, with Bear Valley Timber working in close collaboration with the client to ensure successful completion in full compliance with highway specifications, statutory requirements, and all relevant health and safety standards.
